Hi Victoria, James Clear is one of my favorite authors. Interesting! I'm writing a couple of articles right now about his concept of identity-based habits. I'm just learning about Dr. David and and emotional agility, and just got the Charles Duhigg book.
This is great advice, Victoria. I have read James Clear’s book and also have the habit journal, which I used for a while but have gotten out of the habit of using! There are definitely some habits I’ve gotten away from that I need to bring back, plus some that I’m struggling to adopt.Thank you for the reminder. Susan David is new to me but she seems to be someone I would like from what you’ve written here and from the video you shared, so I’ll check her out. Thanks for writing this piece!
Thanks Serena, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts! Charles Duhigg's Power of Habit offers more 'why we do what we do' it's a great read to tee-up James Clear's book, plus I resonated with the 'reward' system 🤣. Here's a link to the full series of Emotional agility that I did in March: https://www.carermentor.com/p/mentoring-table-of-contents-and-suggested I highly recommend Susan David's book: Dr Susan David: Emotional Agility: Get Unstuck, Embrace Change and Thrive in Work and Life:
Oh yes, and Charles Duhigg. I’ll look into his book too. I’m making a focused effort to align the things that I do on a day to day basis with what is important to me. AND I could use some rewards in my life! Thanks so much for sharing these resources.
Don't forget - self-compassion :-) it's key. These are content-rich topics so, just as you do with your movement pieces, my recommendation is to give yourself the space to expand on small pieces. This is why Viktor Frankl's quote is my favourite: Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl is a must-read. That together with Dr Susan David's book are the 2 I recommend to everyone ;-) You're very welcome!
I do have the book and had started reading it a while ago but put it down before getting very far. I don’t think I had the stomach for it at the time but I know I need to pick it up again.
This is wonderful. I love “The Power of Habit.” Read it when it first came out, and refer to it often.
Thanks Kevin. Charles Duhigg’s work makes us rethink our ‘how’ we do things. It’s in my essential list. https://uk.bookshop.org/lists/self-development-leadership-and-work

Our Jedi telepathy is strong! ;-) I look forward to reading your thoughts. Here's a link to the March series on emotional agility, one more post before I bridge into a new adjacent topic. https://www.carermentor.com/p/mentoring-table-of-contents-and-suggested
Thanks, I will definitely read it. Mine are scheduled for May for now, but that could change.
Take care.
Thanks, Janice. You too!

This is so good Victoria. I’m going to plaster those words to my fridge. Thank you. 🙏
