Truly fascinating! What an example she was to all she touched. I think all caregivers, especially home caregivers, should receive this training. I’d like to try it, but I don’t know any Bible songs totally through. I guess I could sing songs off-key, ; ) of their era which is close to my era. Anyhoo, I could do the touching, I believe.
I think any music that someone loves is the key. Theres MANY studies on how this activates a different part of the brain. The 'connecting' is so powerful. Thanks for taking the time to comment, Judi! xo
Hi Jodi - Exactly! It's why I made the comments about how I was drained emotionally deciphering what was happening with dad ...and he was able to converse but very exhausted...and wasn't one to express his feelings openly. So I totally agree trying to hold an expectation that this is a norm-everyday standard is untenable.
I'm grateful for your response because you've hit on what I didn't embark on in this article—that this breakthrough validation method is an aspiration. It would be beautiful for our loved ones, but issues of access to care support, cost, and quality of care practice make me think that this is more of a rarity rather than a possibility, especially here in the UK.
A short comment with a long response hopefully shows you how much resonance I feel with your comment!

This is new to me and easier said than done. I imagine easier for nonfamily caregivers, those without the emotional baggage. ❤️
