Great article! I often talk about that space that changes a reaction to a response. My interest in self-awareness has really opened up this conversation to me. I'm more conscious of my own 'thinking space' and more aware of actively generating that space for others
Thanks, Nia! Yes, I've read all of Daniel Goleman's books. They were groundbreaking. Dr Susan David has taken things to the next level. It's an area of big interest for me - especially to explore values, identity and cross cultural differences. Other experts have done imaging & other behavioural studies to take these studies even further! Watch this space intro-ing their work! ;-)
Cool! Having been in 'big corporate,' the training we did and how I leveraged emotional intelligence there for my global cross-functional teams are very different from how I use it now. At some point, I can share more ideas and insights re. work environment high-performance team development with emotional intelligence/agility. Congrats on the book! Good luck.
Sounds like maybe we should connect and have a conversation on my podcast? Pls take a listen, see if it's your thing and do come back to me if you'd like to talk more!!
Thanks, Nia. Given my caregiving routine, I can't do podcasts or connect easily. I appreciate the invite, and I'll try to take a listen at some point. If you have specific questions let me know & I'll try to answer when I can. I try to stay connected to new ideas for my mentoring clients. They take my open 'live time'.
Thanks, Devin. I think some people believe that discipline is a rigid routine everyday practice that we need to control and stick to - like a tickbox habit. I like to think that it's more about cultivating intentions that lead us towards being a better version of ourselves. Purpose, quality and meaning more than quantitatively demonstrating we've done something. Does that resonate?
Yes! I like the word intentions because we're all imperfect humans doing the best we can. Hence why I like the idea of agility, having the grace and flexibility to course-correct back towards our best intentions, aims in your words. Thanks - great small exchange here!
Love this overview of the power of Viktor Frankl's writing! Keep it up victoria
Thanks, Zan! I appreciate the support!

Amazing. I'll keep a look out
My book on self-aware leadership has just gone live, so I'm already thinking about book 2 and gathering insights and ideas!
