Dear Carer Mentor Friends,
This poem showed up because I needed to hear it.
Sharing with love and empathy for everyone but especially For Caregivers
For the empathy and love of others
Autumn starts to freeze into winter. Days are darker Feeling stuck, breath glued by COVID, tightened with pneumonia Worn by the world outside, the noise and challenges. Feeling boxed Client’s scramble in a whirlwind of reorganisations, layoffs, and last-spends of the year Changes announced before holidays, bandaid ripped. Relegating healing for homes Management hopes to start fresh next year. Instead, mistrust is seeded. Budgets and targets are not the only things being judged. People. Hopeful plans, expectations, and good intentions are being inspected Harshly, the news, in media, locally and abroad, Dampen the inspiration that Could Spark light. The news keeps coming, Social constructs and dynamics play out daily—politics, finance, work. Our emotions are constantly tested, amplitude stretched, Wrung out through the next big challenge. Twisting and knotting frustrations build and depress, Together Connecting with empathy, we can try to untie knots. Build more community and advocate for each other. Champion needs, create synergies, have more ideas...and and and... And breathe, More humanity into the world.
Feeling boxed people
Could spark light
Together
And breathe
More humanity into the world
A Few Words
There are times when we need to create mental space and distance.
For many reasons, I’m reminding myself that the last quarter of the year is always the busiest and most mentally taxing.
We push ourselves, judge each other, and worry about what we have and have not done and what this means—even more so this year.
It’s a time when we can be especially harsh with ourselves and others—our stress and expectations can trip us up.
Let’s take a few minutes to exhale deeply.
Our To-Do List will still be there. Mindfully setting ‘values-based’ measures of success and boundaries will happen. What matters most to you right now?
For now, let’s exhale together.
I see you. You’re not Alone.
