#4 Your Playlists: What Music Mojo keeps you on track or comforts you?
March ComfortZoning: Share your playlist or favourite songs.
Care to share the playlist that gets you through the day, the one that’s the soundtrack to your walk or helps you dance around washing dishes?
Hello, dear friends. Thank you for spending some of your precious time and energy here with me.
You can find this article together with other ‘Watchlist Recommendations’ in the ComfortZone section of the Carer Mentor website (aka desktop web version of this publication)
Inspired by the comments exchanged between the lovely
and myself in her article Obvi Issues: Dementia Caregiver Self-Care Coping in the Betwixt Using Both/And Thinking, I thought we could share some of our music mojo.I hear you, Anna! Both things/statements can be true, AND we can also give ourselves the grace that even the small actions are BIG care-for-ourselves things.
I'm really bad right now doing my exercise (morning appointments etc etc.) AND I need to get the sheets changed. So these are the weeks I dance around the bed doing sheets, to my change-the-sheets playlist...just trying (when not too tired) to get creative to do the 'AND', and not pile on separate to-dos onto myself.... I need the music encouragement, though!
Here’s my ‘Sheets’ Playlist:

A Pro Tip:
In Spotify you can search by speed For example:
125 bpm (beats per minute) is a fast walk on the treadmill for me.
110-125 bpm is a strut-attitude walk outside. Meditative movement.
100-110 bpm is a slower walk, more reflective thinking.
Everyone walks (or dances around the kitchen) at a different speed!
So have some fun finding the music-speeds that work for you.
There are lots of bpm based playlists to help you with your mojo!
Care to share the playlist that gets you through the day?
the soundtrack to your walk
your washing dishes or cooking music
classical music soother (I have lots)
the attitude or rager mix (think…Demi Lovato’s ‘Sorry not Sorry’)
When we’re at a loss for words, music can release us and transport the stress.

Currently listening to Chillhop on YouTube music. No words, just slow funky, jazzy, rythmic beats. 🎷🎺🎶
Thank you, Victoria! I didn’t know that you could search Spotify this way!
