#10 This Caregiver's Watchlist: 'Genius Talent and Laughter'
Brain distractions and mood shifters.
Hello, dear Readers. I’m Victoria (She/her/hers). I cared for my Dad through to his passing (the hellish dark days with grains of joy), and now I look after Mum (calmer waters, with moments of joy and several giggles). You can read more about why I’m publishing Carer Mentor here: Who Started Carer Mentor and Why?’
This is the tenth Caregiver’s Watchlist article. You can browse through the others in the ComfortZone here. I shared the premise for the Caregiver’s Watchlist series here.
September is my birthday month, so I had a wonderful respite break.
I’ve been focused on various business-related tasks, including a lot of admin work and several client meetings. Thanks to those involved in the ‘Letters from a Caregiver’ Collaboration. I love collaborating and connecting with you.
September is always super-busy, so I’ve tapped into some brain distractions and mood shifters to help me switch focus.
Have you noticed how humming, singing, dancing a little, or laughing hard can shift your mood? Sometimes, intentionally using them as tools can help re-energise the brain and body. For me, music and movement help my concentration and clarity.
We can’t control our thoughts or feelings, but we can choose how we act or respond to them.
Care to ‘Shake it Off’ (cue dance moves)?

, , ,NPR Music: Ed Sheeran Tiny Desk Concert (September 12, 2025)
I just discovered this on YouTube. Even if you’re not an Ed Sheeran fan, take a look at how he uses the Loop Pedal. Genius talent. Mind blown. Thanks NPR Music.
SET LIST: “Sapphire”, “A Little More”, “Camera”, “Photograph”, “Azizam”.
More genius
Pianote (September 18, 2025). This is SO good.
Pianote is a great source of amazing talent. Musicians hear a song and freestyle their own tracks. Jesús Molina (click for his bio)1 hears the drum line and vocals and creates different instrumentals to accompany it. GEEZ! He hears the original Justin Timberlake version at 11:38.
The Laughter that gets me everytime…
